2008 Male Amateur Athlete of the Year

David Price

For his outstanding 2007 season, Vanderbilt University's star pitcher, David Price, was named the Collegiate Baseball's Co-National Player of the Year and was the No. 1 overall draft pick in major league baseball Tampa Bay Devil Rays).

Price finished 11-1 on the year with a 2.63 ERA and 194 strikeouts in 133.1 innings pitched. His 194 strike-outs led the nation and shattered his existing school single season record of 155 set the previous year.

Among his many honors, Price was named the Dick Howser Trophy Winner and the Golden Spikes Award Winner.

In addition, he was the CSTV's College Player of the Year, was named first team All-American, the Brooks Wallace Award winner, a Roger Clemens Award Finalist, the SEC Male Athlete of the Year, the SEC Pitcher of the Year and was named First Team All-SEC. Vanderbilt was 16-1 in games he started.
